Stop Disassembling America!
(The Right To Assemble)
Let me remind you of your rights. YOUR rights, you and you and yes.. even you. I am talking to those losing their businesses, their houses, those being laid off as jobs are sent overseas, those forced out into the nonexistent job market, those who have lost medical benefits, who are forced to suffer because they cannot afford medications, those who have lost loved ones to a war that has never been fully explained, the single parents who watch their children suffer every day while they desperately try to make ends meet. Let me remind you, and you and you... Who have worked all your life only to find there is nothing left to retire on, you, the 80 year old still working because you can no longer make it with all the cuts to your Social Security and increases in medical, you should be out fishing damn it! Let me remind the homeless, (and look carefully the faces of the homeless are rapidly changing), that the constitution is talking about you too. Remember this, those of you with drug problems, with alcohol problems, those with mental illness, the ones society deems the undesirables (their word not mine), the constitution is no respecter of persons. It was written for you. We all have equal rights.
A reminder: These are your First Amendment rights...
First Amendment to the United States Constitution:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The People.
It does not read, unless you do drugs, unless you do not have a home, unless you are a democrat, republican, independent, libertarian, anarchist, atheist, feminist, homosexual, welfare recipients, environmental activist. It does not say "unless" to anybody, no exclusions of race, religion, beliefs or backgrounds, it reads "The PEOPLE" and we are the people, all of us, those I mentioned and many more that I did not. The 99% is all inclusive.
Say it once with me... out loud, "Congress shall make no law respecting .....the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
That is our right, "We are petitioning the Government for a redress of grievances." It is our RIGHT to do so. So tell me, why do the ones we are assembling to address, have the right to ask us to stop? They are looking for every loophole they can find, hoping to scare us into going home and sitting back down in front of the television, because they KNOW if this goes on, there will be too many of us standing for them to fight. We live in a time when most Americans suffer abuse syndrome, no different than domestic abuse, it is better to keep quiet and not rock the boat, at least we get that government cheese and they keep promising it will get better, right? Wrong. The only gets better for them, and we have the right to protest that.
It does not read, Congress shall make no law .....prohibiting the right of the people to peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances... unless we become an annoyance, unless someone commits suicide, or someone uses drugs, or breaks a law, there is no footnote reading if one person messes up, then the rest shall not be heard or they can tell us all to go home. The government may prohibit people from knowingly associating in groups that engage and promote illegal activities. However, know this, what the select few do, as an extracurricular activity, within a group, is not what the group as a whole is engaging in or promoting. For them to use that excuse, like they are using in Portland Oregon right now, only proves one thing... they are incredibly stupid when it comes to understanding constitutional rights, OR they think we are. (I lean rather heavily on the first conclusion as they have repeatedly proven that there they have little understanding of the Constitution.)
Back to my point. They cannot tell the whole of the group to disperse based on the actions of select individuals, only if the message as a whole promotes illegal activities. (In which case I might mention the Hemp Festivals all over the country that they have no problem with, but then latch onto the fact that there may be individuals engaged in drug use; including those using it medically, and trying to shut down our right to assemble because of it. Isn't that rather hypocritical, or could it be the fact that they collect taxes from the Hemp Fest? Just sayin')
There are consequences for individuals who break the law, enforce them but do not think you can shut us all down based on the actions of a few. We are not going away.
(Funny they never have a problem with massive gatherings when it is in support of them, again.. just sayin')
Stop treating us like children. It does not say we have the right to assemble only if the government agrees with us and if they do not, they can send us home like a bunch of naughty 4 year olds with a simple, "because I said so."
The truth of the matter is this, they do not have the right to have a say so whatsoever! They are the ones we are voicing our grievances against. It would be much smarter for them to just sit down and listen. Until they do, we need to keep exercising our right to assemble, that I might add, so many men and women have died fighting to protect. (On a personal note, if they do not understand that is what our men and women fought and still fight for, then for just what reason are they using our soldiers, and why?)
Our first amendment protects our right to say, "Hey, you have messed this up and we are angry with you. You were elected to serve the people, to be our voice, but somewhere it got turned around. Now our voice is no longer heard, now we are a people who serve the best interest of our government and their interests. You are not doing what we elected you into office to do and we would like to address that with you."
One person, standing alone, has the right to do this, a collective of people have the right to assemble, and nowhere does it say the whole of the assembly, is held accountable for the action of one person. What my neighbor does, reflects nothing on my personal right to stand and address my government with my grievances. The attempts by the ones we are addressing, to silence our voices, is against everything the constitution stands for and indeed is exactly why it was written, to protect us from a government who no longer listens to it's people.
Well, all Little Sister can say is, SOMEONE needs to start listening to the people. We are the 99 percent and we are NOT going away, and we are NOT GOING TO REMAIN SILENT.
"Can you hear me now... big brother?"
